Counseling Philosophy

I believe that individuals come to counseling with many strengths which they may not recognize. They are often struggling with relationships and may have difficulty defining a healthy relationship for themselves. The need for connection is universal and the barriers to connection may include mental health issues, self-confidence, or a pattern of negative thinking. My practice is solution-focused and uses cognitive behavioral therapy where appropriate. My goal is always to develop client competency whether in individuals, families, or couples.
