Teens and Families
I have a special interest in working with adolescents, families and the developmental needs of teens. The adolescent years are often difficult for both youth and their parents. Teen anger and mood swings are upsetting. Building healthy relationships and increasing teen self-esteem is essential to managing the teen years. Teens still need their parents even though the communication patterns may change. I can help you discover additional parenting strategies that are both kind and firm. Recognizing the difference between normal teen behaviors and those that may require additional assistance is important.
Relationships
Many people who seek counseling come for relationship difficulties including anger issues. Anger is a normal human emotion and serves a purpose for most people. It often indicates that a person is fully engaged in life and cares deeply. Anger is also frequently a demand for change. When anger becomes habit forming it may block communication and can be harmful to individuals and relationships. Finding new ways to manage anger and developing healthier ways of relating can lead to feelings of competence and less stress.
Women and Health
Women’s health is an area of special concern for me. Whether dealing with pregnancy , childbirth, PMS, menopause, aging parents or life threatening health matters, women will find comfort and assistance with me. Health does matter and it can have a major impact on you and your life. Choosing a therapist who understands the connection between physical and mental health can be important in resolving issues.
